Sudden funding stop & open applications

On January 24, the federal government stopped the funding programs for the efficiency house / efficiency building 55 in new buildings (EH/EG55), efficiency house / building 40 in new buildings (EH/EG40) and the program area energy-efficient renovation without prior notice. The reasons for this were the enormous flood of applications and exhausted funds. At this point in time, however, around 24,000 applications had been received but had not yet been processed.

Solution stands for open requests

The ministries have now announced in a joint press release that all eligible old applications received by the application stop on January 24th, 2022 will be approved. These received applications are now being checked by KfW according to the previous program criteria; those eligible are approved. This should offer a good and legally secure solution for all those affected. KfW asks all applicants who submitted their application up to and including January 23 to be patient, as there may be delays. Economics Minister Habeck also announced that the EH-40 funding program would be relaunched, capped at one billion euros and also limited in time.
