Facade renovation of the listed Raiffeisenhaus in Kiel

It is a cultural monument, the Kieler Raiffeisenhaus. Centrally located, opposite the main train station, the six-story office and commercial building with a staggered storey and a cantilevered pent roof has shaped the cityscape of Kiel since 1952/53 and has been a listed building since 1990.

Now the ravages of time have left their mark on the Raiffeisenhaus and the owner, W. Jacobsen GmbH, commissioned the PPF, as the long-standing manager of the Raiffeisenhaus, to coordinate the renovation of the facade and the energetic renewal of the windows. After the previous detailed investigation, scaffolding of the building will begin this month. This is followed by the replacement of more than 300 (!) windows and window frames, the removal of weather-related damage to the natural stone and facing facade and the concrete renovation of the fly roof, in compliance with the monument protection requirements.

An additional challenge is the full occupancy of the entire property. It is therefore necessary to take the greatest possible consideration for tenants and visitors to the building as well as for road and passenger traffic.

Completion is planned for the end of October 2022. Then the façade of the Raiffeisenhaus with its characteristic grid, the change of material from red brick to light natural stone, the numerous high, rectangular white windows and the pent roof, which gives the block-like structure its lightness, should shine in new splendour.
